TRANSFORMS INTO FAMILY PUB

MOTHER-IN-LAW SUITE

Before

This client came to us needing an addition for her mother, whom was moving in with them. We started the design process and once we had the architectural layout, we brought mom into the meetings. We listened to every detail, concern, and want. So, everything was designed with Mom's wants and future needs in mind.

Some additions we added to make things easier for mom, were the zero-entry shower that had a bench with a cubby for her necessities, a kitchenette for light meals, and a lazy susan for her TV so she could turn it any way she needed. We even ensured that her daughter had an unencumbered pathway to her mother's bed from the main home.

We also designed a space where Mom could be a part of the house, without feeling like she was imposing on the family. We created a beautiful, bright "sun" room overlooking the lake that separated Mom's space from the main housing.

That was life for six years...

We came back years later and gave this family new memories. Mom's kitchenette became the bar, the closet was only placed in the room for easy removal, which opened up the space in the process. And many more changes to create the pub you can see in the pictures below.

At the beginning of this project, we knew it needed to be designed so it would eventually be readily used for another purpose. This allowed for a minimal remodel in the future.
